Client Success Stories

It is an absolute privilege to be a part of someone's life-changing transformation.

I am so proud to share these amazing real-life stories with you.

Client Success Story: BEN

Ben came to me in July 2022. Life was okay - decent job, loving family and all the trimmings - but something wasn’t right. He was feeling stressed-out and frustrated and drinking quite regularly. Not heavily - more like a few beers most nights to take the edge off, a glass of wine with dinner, maybe more at the weekends.

We worked regularly with each other across a 4-month period before easing back and doing a monthly check-in. Ben threw himself into the process and went on his own mission to change his life, step-by-step.

He is now a completely different person. He decided to stop drinking, meditates daily and feels so much calmer. He is more present with his young son, and the fun has been injected back into family time. What really blew my mind was when he showed me the card his wife sent him, saying how proud she was of him for making these changes.

All credit to Ben - he was determined, took responsibility for his actions and his dedication has been off the chart. I have nothing but respect for him.

Here are his own words:

What challenges were you facing before you started working with Phil?

I felt pretty stressed a lot of the time and would be quick to lose my temper at little things, things that wouldn't really bother other people so much. I was also being told to 'enjoy the moment' quite a lot by my wife, without really ever knowing what she meant or how I did that. I was finding parenting tough and had started to want to spend more time on my own than with my family. I was drinking maybe 4 days a week which I also knew was becoming a problem.

How has your life changed since then?

Quite simply, a lot and all for the better. I still feel stress but nowhere near the same level. My baseline stress has massively reduced and I feel that I am able to take a more positive angle when stressful situations arise. I really enjoy spending time with my son / family much more than I ever did and find myself just saying 'yes' much more to family time etc. where I wouldn't have before. Also, this isn't really a conscious effort for me to say yes, it's just how I feel. I've stopped drinking (not because Phil told me to or suggested it, off my own back) which has really helped a lot, too.

What part of the coaching process did you find most valuable?

Hard to describe, really. I've tried CBT and other stuff in the past and it's never really been that helpful for me personally. With Phil it felt totally different. Small steps introduced at the right times, that didn't actually feel like an effort to do or that I was having to make any real big changes to my life. Also being able to contact Phil in-between sessions for a quick chat or message etc. and his encouragement throughout has been really good. Also, Phil recommended some excellent books and other content for me to read which I am now totally hooked on!

In what ways have you grown as a person?

Quite simply, I am a better father and husband. I can now deal with stress like a 'normal' person and feel able to interject in a positive way when I see a stressful situation arise. I was one of those people who could never understand the whole 'just take a deep breathe' or 'count to 10 before you react' advice. I thought that was impossible for me to even think about. Not any more.

Where have you seen the biggest improvements in your day-to-day life?

Mornings. I now have a set morning routine which Phil helped me introduce which sets me up in a positive way for the day. Although, I feel day-to-day life has improved overall. No more stressful parent / child dinner times etc. They're now enjoyable.

What did you enjoy most about working with Phil?

Phil doesn't judge you in any way. Plus, for me being a middle aged guy, he was just on my level more so than anyone I had spoken to in the past. Easy to chat to and has life experience that you can relate to.
